About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Director IM/IT, the Director of IM/IT Community Applications and Specialty Services oversees a team of professionals and is responsible for the management of clinical applications. They contribute as part of the leadership team to the strategies and operational plans consistent with legislation, accountability frameworks, and the mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of the province. The Director fosters collaborative environments that optimizes care provision through standardization and use of technologies. Contributing to the design and development of comprehensive strategies to support the effective, efficient, and sustainable delivery of services and programs including support of clinical transformation and the advancement of clinical standardization to improve health outcomes through optimal use of technology is a key part of this role.
The Director of IMIT Community Applications and Specialty Services must have a strong understanding of not only the technical aspects of applications, their design and maintenance, but also an understanding for how they correlate to the support and delivery of patient care decision-making processes. The Director requires creativity and problem-solving ability in the pursuit, creation, and ongoing support of clinical applications for Nova Scotia Health. Collaboration, relationship-building, communication, and organization are keys to the success of this role. Decisions made by the Director affect a wide range of activities and goals and could have significant impact across the organization. The breadth and impact of this portfolio reaches across all physicians, administration, and staff as well as affiliated partners, IWK, Department of Health, Nova Scotia Government, education partners.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and 10+ years progressive leadership experience
- Master’s degree an asset, particularly in health administration, informatics, leadership, or business administration.
- Certified Health Executive and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) designation or willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire.
- IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and/or organizational change management certification an asset.
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ progressive leadership positions in health care in addition to having clinically related practice or clinical application experience.
- Experience as a strategic leader within a complex organization, enabling change and leading transformational projects and providing strategic advice to senior management
- Experience in working with patient care leaders and staff across a large organization is an asset.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines
- Experience in engaging, mentoring, and empowering teams and stakeholders in a collaborative, participative manner to respond to the mission, vision, goals and objectives an organization
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills with ability to interpret statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks.
- Strong interpersonal skills with high level of competence in both written and verbal communication.
- Understanding of clinical systems, IT tools and processes.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits
$56.95 - $71.19 hourly ($109,570 - $138,820 annually)
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
Successful candidates may also be eligible for relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
