The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Ambulatory Surgical Care, under the supervision of the Clinical Leader, the Ward Clerk performs a variety of reception and clerical duties required for the efficient operation of the Orthopaedic clinic. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ordering and maintaining supplies; transport functions (e.g., escorting patients); preparing, retrieving, and maintaining health records and charts, assisting in booking follow-up appointments; filing; photocopying; faxing; answering phones; returning messages; placing calls to staff as required.

Hours of Work

Monday – Friday 8:00-4:00

Your Qualifications

•    Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required.
•    Successful completion of a recognized Office Administration program preferred. 
•    Previous recent experience in a similar role preferred. 
•    Previous recent experience in an office/clinic environment and/or a similar role an asset. Minimum two years related secretarial experience preferred. 
•    Previous patient registration experience preferred. 
•    Medical Terminology an asset. 
•    Demonstrated excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, time management and organization skills required.  
•    Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an inter-professional team required.
•    Demonstrated ability to take direction and to work with minimal supervision or independently required. 
•    Demonstrated ability to be attentive to detail and flexible to meet workload demands required. 
•    Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc) preferred.
•    Current successful completion of CPR Level-C Healthcare Provider within the last 12 months an asset.
•    Experience with MEDITECH an asset. 
•    Knowledge of program-based care an asset.
•    Competency in other languages considered an asset; French & Arabic preferred.
