The Opportunity

The Sustainability & SmartTrip Coordinator is a role for someone who wants their work to make meaningful impact. You’ll be at the center of IWK Health’s efforts to make sustainable transportation easier, more accessible, and more engaging for staff across the organization. By leading the SmartTrip Program and supporting active transportation initiatives, you’ll directly influence staff engagement and contribute to a culture of environmental stewardship across the organization.

 

Beyond SmartTrip program delivery, the Coordinator provides essential administrative, communications, and coordination support across the broader Health System Sustainability portfolio. This includes preparing outreach materials, supporting behavior‑change campaigns, coordinating meetings and documentation, and maintaining project tracking to support monitoring and evaluation. The role also helps design and implement sustainability engagement initiatives, develops promotional content, and collaborates with internal partners to advance a wide range of sustainability projects.

Hours of Work

7.5-hour shifts, daily (hybrid – primarily onsite)

Your Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree (sustainability, business, public administration, environmental studies) or recognized office administration program/business program/secretarial program and/or a combination of education, training and progressively responsible experience. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience required
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to effectively manage and prioritize sustainability-related coordination tasks simultaneously, including enrollment, financial tracking, and reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage stakeholders, develop promotional materials, and respond to inquiries.
  • Proficiency in analyzing usage trends and preparing reports to inform decision-making and program improvements.
  • Proficient in financial reconciliation processes.
  • Experience organizing workshops, public events, and educational initiatives.
  • Familiarity with active and sustainable transportation principles, infrastructure, and municipal transit programs.
  • Competence in preparing on-line forms, building and managing databases, using internal platforms (e.g., PULSE), email systems, and design tools for newsletters and promotional content.
  • Ability to identify funding opportunities and contribute to compelling grant proposals.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset
