The Opportunity
This Research Assistant position involves providing administrative and research support to the Strengthening Transitions in Care (STIC) Lab (0.6FTE), led by Dr. Janet Curran, and to the IWK OPOR Evaluation (0.4FTE) co-led by members of the IWK Health project team. The STIC Lab is located within the IWK Health main campus.

About the STIC Lab at IWK Health:
The STIC Lab uses a collaborative, patient-centred approach to understanding how children and families currently navigate transitions in care. STIC’s research aims to improve outcomes and lead to sustainable changes in the healthcare system.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Project coordination (scheduling research interviews, meetings)
- Primary data collection and analysis (transcription, scribing)
- Qualitative and quantitative data organization and cleaning
- Secondary data analysis
- Support with Research Ethics Board (amendments, reporting)
- Preparing dissemination outputs (posters, presentations, manuscripts)
- Interacting with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare staff
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours
Your Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in a health-related discipline (preferred)
- Previous research experience (health research-related environment preferred)
- Previous experience using REDCap, NVIVO, Tableau, SPSS, STATA, and other data tools
- Mixed methods research experience – experience with quantitative and qualitative methods required
- Strong data management skills
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, videoconference software)
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to function independently yet collaboratively within a team
- Understand importance and demonstrate ability to foster a culture of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility
