The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Policy & Nursing Enhancements, the Clinical Nurse Educator will be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning and development, facilitation, implementation, and evaluation of existing and new system-wide educational programs to improve and sustain the competencies of learners, consistent with the philosophy and values of IWK Health. The successful applicant will facilitate the practical application of both established and emerging clinical knowledge, as well as its incorporation into clinical practice through knowledge translation. In a leadership role, the Clinical Nurse Educator will encourage an interprofessional team environment focused on people-centered care, transition to practice, career development, and mentorship. By ensuring adaptability in learning experiences to cater to various learning styles and skill levels, the Clinical Nurse Educator shows dedication to continuous learning and nurtures a culture that encourages personal leadership and responsibility. The Clinical Nurse Educator showcases proficiency in practice, program development, education monitoring, and assessment, as well as leadership and professional conduct, aligning with the principles outlined in the IWK Strategic Plan.
Hours of Work
37.5 hours/week, Monday – Friday
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing required.
- Master of Nursing/Health Care/Education preferred.
- Minimum of three years clinical experience, relevant to nursing practice
- Current or willingness to complete the Canadian Certified Nurse Educator (CCNE) Program and maintain the designation. Incumbents are required to enroll within first year of hire and complete the program within two years of initial enrolment.
- Current or willingness to complete the Interprofessional Simulation Facilitation Course (Sim-IPE) within first year of hire.
- Current Registration (with good standing) with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses.
- Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support Level (BLS) Program within the last 12 months, or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate, required.
