The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Health Records, the General Office Clerk works independently and is responsible for duties associated with the record processing function specific to Health Information Services. Primary responsibilities will include chart assembly, retrieval and filing of patient records, filing of patient reports, scanning,  responding to telephone requests, and other duties as assigned.

Hours of Work

Varied based on the department rotational schedule, must be available for all shifts.  Shifts are 8 hours and include days, evenings plus weekends.

Your Qualifications

  • Minimum High School diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Graduate from a recognized Office Administration Program preferred
  • Previous experience in a similar role is an asset.
  • Keyboarding skills minimum of 40 wpm required, 60 wpm is preferred (testing may be conducted on candidates)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer programs/technology (testing may be conducted on candidates)
  • Proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to respectfully work with a variety of inter-professional team members required
  • High degree of initiative, diligence, attention to detail, and self-discipline/focus
  • Commitment to continual learning and willing to share knowledge and support the development of co-workers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Family Centered Care. 
  • Flexibility required for changes in shift on short notice and to meet workload demands.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology and/or MEDITECH is an asset.
  • Competency in other languages considered an asset; French preferred.
