The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, the Clinical Leader supports the efficient and effective operation of the Neurology Clinic by assisting with the planning, organization, and directing of clinical care consistent with the philosophy, objectives and vision of the IWK Health Centre. The Clinical Leader role models professional nursing practice, fosters the development of an environment in which the desired outcome of all activities is the enhancement of patient care while demonstrating strong leadership, organization and communication skills. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: collaboration with all appropriate care team members; identifies and facilitates quality initiatives to improve care; acts as a liaison for Neurology team with other care teams and departments within the Health Centre and with partners outside the Health Centre; supports the preceptorship of new staff; in collaboration with the Clinical Leader Development, supports learning opportunities for staff; acts as a resource; in collaboration with the Manager, coordinates patient care assignments and workload for staff. Participates in recruitment and selection of team members when required.
Hours of Work
Monday-Friday, 0800-1600
Your Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required (candidates with commensurate experience and education will be considered).
• Registered, or eligible to be registered, with CRNNS required.
• Current successful completion of CPR Level-C Healthcare Provider within the last 12 months required.
• Minimum Five (5) years Neurology Clinic nursing experience required.
• Clinical expertise in pediatric Neurology Conditions required.
• Demonstrated visionary regarding trends in pediatric care.
• Demonstrated expert problem solving and decision making abilities required.
• Demonstrated strong leadership and organizational skills required.
• Demonstrated commitment to life long learning required.
• Demonstrated expert negotiation and conflict resolution skills required.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development and practice required.
• Competency in other languages considered an asset; French preferred.
