The Opportunity
The Coordinator, Clinical Data Collection plays a key leadership role in the day-to-day activities and maintenance of 3M Data System, in addition to coding and abstracting patients visits. This position is 0.5 FTE Coordinator and 0.5 FTE Coding and Abstracting.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Knows and supports the standard and mission statement of the Health Centre.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient/family and employee information.
- Collaborates and works consultatively with team members and all levels of management.
- Maintains and updates skills and knowledge as required.
- Makes recommendations for work process improvement.
- Assists with training/orientation of new staff.
- Supports change and ongoing learning.
- Supports facility policies and maintains good public relations.
- Liaises with the 3M System Analyst regarding system problems, new fields to add, etc.
- Liaises with Health Records regarding CDC issues.
- Liaises with Admitting/Registration regarding registration issues related to entry errors.
- Chairs CDC meetings as appropriate.
- Is the main point of contact for external contacts.
- Performs other duties as required.
Hours of Work
Flexibility in hours available to work (including some evenings, weekends) required.
Your Qualifications
- Certificate Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
- Thorough knowledge of ICD 10 CA/CCI Coding Classifications and CIHI Standards
- Experience with computerized abstracting.
- Successful completion of post-secondary education preferred.
- Successful completion of MIS Course preferred.
- Experience in a similar position in a health care setting preferred.
- Previous Meditech experience.
- Experience with 3M HDM Abstracting and Codefinder.
- Excellent communication skills
- High regard for quality and attention to detail strong interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills.
