The Opportunity

The Admitting Clerk performs a variety of reception and clerical duties required for the efficient operation of the unit.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: data entry, including database entry; ordering and maintaining supplies; admitting patients; required transport functions; filing; typing general correspondence; photocopying; faxing; answering phones; placing calls to staff as required and payroll duties, as required.

Hours of Work

Varies based on 24 hour department coverage schedule; includes days, evening, nights and weekends. 7 hour shifts.

Your Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a recognized Office Administration Program preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
• Basic knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Office, is required.
• Knowledge of Meditech is preferred.
• Demonstrated accurate keyboarding and data entry skills required. Testing will be conducted on short-listed candidates and results will be factored into the candidate’s overall suitability for this position.
• Demonstrated team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to work with a wide variety of interdisciplinary team members and families.
• Demonstrated organizational, analytical, time management, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
• Previous experience in a similar role (admitting patients) preferred.
• Working knowledge of Community-Wide Scheduling (CWS) is an asset.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.
• Competency in other languages is an asset.
