About This Opportunity

Hants Community Hospital (HCH), is seeking full-time or part time emergency medicine physicians to join their team. There is opportunity to engage in research and/or teaching positions with Dalhousie University, as well as, local simulation based opportunities, should that be of interest. HCR ED is approximately 40 minutes drive from the region's tertiary care pediatric facility, the IWK Health Centre, and the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre. 

HCH services include:

  • 24-hour emergency department
  • inpatient care (28 hospital beds)
  • long-term care facility (32 beds)
  • surgery programs including general and orthopedic surgery
  • several specialty clinics (including obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, hematology)
  • mental health team

On call services are provided from Halifax and Kentville.

Responsibilities

  • duties include full scope of practice as an emergency physician 
  • the physician will be responsible to the department head for emergency medicine for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice, and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority

Expected Hours

  • full-time
  • 10-hour day shifts and 14 hour night shifts available
  • flexible shifts each month
  • single coverage shifts
