About This Opportunity

The Ravines Medical Group has an immediate opening for a full-time/part-time physicians at their Elmsdale Medical Centre located at 106 Elmsdale Rd. This opening would be ideal for physicians who would like to start up or relocate their current practice. The Elmsdale Medical Centre is a Collaborative Practice wherein physicians and supporting licensed healthcare professionals collaborate on general healthcare outcome targets, meet to discuss patient care and cover each other’s patients while a physician is not scheduled in the clinic. The Medical Centre also works in collaboration with locum physicians to provide coverage to support vacation times when requested.  We welcome and encourage physicians who choose to provide health care services at local hospitals, nursing homes etc. Candidates must be eligible to be licensed by CPSNS and Credentialed with the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

The Ravines Medical Group takes care of the operational business of medicine for you such as billings, administrative staffing, management of referrals, management of vaccines, ordering of all supplies and general maintenance of clinic. Your exam rooms and office space is fully equipped including EMR - TELUS Health Med Access and computer hardware. Attractive overhead model with no minimum monthly amount and scaling incentives.  Although the Elmsdale Clinic is considered rural, the clinic is only located 20-30 minutes outside the city of Halifax. In collaboration with the existing team of six physicians, three- family practice nurses and nurse practitioner,  the incoming physician (s) will be a part of a collaborative clinic serving the patients of the Elmsdale Medical Centre.  We pride ourselves on providing the support for our physicians to provide medical services outside of the clinic to diversify and complement their family practice. 
The incoming physician will have the choice of either the alternative payment plan or fee for service model as the Ravines Medical Group accommodates both. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Examine patients and take their histories. 
  • order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures. 
  • advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention 
  • consultation and referral to other medical practitioners’
  • act as a patient’s advocate
  • prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
  • report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements

Expected Hours

Monday to Friday, hours and number of patients scheduled per shift are tailored to the physician’s preference. This position has the flexibility of being full-time, part-time or locum.
