About This Opportunity

Clarmar Care Facility, in Dartmouth, is seeking a Medical Advisor (Family Physician) to join our assisted living facility that currently consists of 14 residents. The general expectation is that the physician would be present on-site a minimum of twice a year. The facility is professionally managed and supported by friendly administrative staff.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Minimum of two on -site visits per year
  • Phone appointments or on-site visits as required
  • Prescribe and refill medications as required
  • Review physicians orders every six months, or as required for the pharmacy
  • Provide Flu shots annually on-site at the facility
  • Provide requisitions for blood work, orders tests/scans/labs/xrays, etc. and follow-up with results
  • Referrals to other medical practitioners or specialists
  • Acts as patient advocate
  • Provide and write VON orders as required
  • Advise patients on health care, health promotion and disease prevention
  • Report deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Health requirements
  • Communicate with staff/management regarding any changes to the residents health.
  • Paid via Fee for Service
